This month we’re proud to be sponsoring Business Hunter’s inaugural Powering Business 2050 Summit, and second Hunter Nexus event.
The Powering Business 2050 Summit will see regional and national experts, leaders in business, education and training, and government representatives gather in Newcastle to address the great workforce challenges we are seeing now and into the future.
The event is a great opportunity for Newcastle Airport and Astra Aerolab to collaborate with local industry, share information, discuss future trends, and connect with members, governments, and communities across the skills pipeline as we advance on our path towards global connectivity.
Summit attendees will explore how the Hunter region is meeting its potential for business growth in our region’s emerging industries and powering the future of work for generations to come. This includes:
- Seeking to understand the types of jobs that will exist in the Hunter in five, 10, 20 and 30 years
- Planning and implementing workforce development strategies; and
- Seeking insights into the types of skilled workforces that will grow in the existing and emerging industries in the Hunter region.
At the Summit, Newcastle Airport CEO Dr Peter Cock and Chair of Hunter Defence Taskforce Air Commodore Tim Owen AM will join facilitator Kristi Jorgenson from Regional Growth NSW for the defence stream panel discussion “A precinct approach to industrial workforce development: Astra Aerolab as an exemplar.”
The Hunter Nexus will act as the summit dinner and is presented by The University of Newcastle in partnership with Business Hunter. This black-tie event is a forum for exchange and networking between regional business, higher education and community leaders on a wide range of topics relevant to the future of our region.
The outcome of these events will be the creation of a nexus between academia and commerce to drive regional growth. Backed by evidence-based thought leadership, the nexus appeals to a spirit of partnership for the Hunter’s sustained advancement in key industries.
Both events position the Airport and Astra Aerolab as a leader in this space, and we look forward to collaborating with attendees to explore how we can all work together and effectively plan for the future growth of our region.
